Perfect Oven Baked Salmon Recipe (Keto, Paleo)
The past few months, I’ve been receiving the most beautiful pieces of sustainable, line caught, wild Alaskan salmon and fish from my monthly Sitka Salmon Shares box.
I’ll admit, the first time I got my box, I was a little intimidated. These were the most gorgeous pieces of fish I ever saw and I wanted to do them justice.
In the past, I’ve been known to overcook salmon. Overcooking fish can be so easy to do, right?! I was determined to not ruin these amazing pieces of fish by overcooking.
So I started researching, which then lead to experimenting. And I’m proud to say that I found a fool-proof method to get the most perfect oven baked salmon every single time. It’s seriously the best.
I’m talking flaky, moist, tender… it’s the most absolutely delicious, mouthwatering salmon you will ever eat, I promise.
I now make this oven baked salmon recipe weekly and it turns out perfect every single time. Just 15 minutes from start to finish! Because it’s such a breeze to make, it’s become a weeknight staple dinner for us.
My husband even says it’s better than going to a seafood restaurant and I agree….and I’m from Maryland where we’ve eaten at our fair share of wonderful seafood restaurants!
There is nothing that beats wild Alaskan Salmon – I highly recommend finding some high quality, wild Alaskan Salmon for this recipe! 🙂 HERE is where I get mine (you can get $25 off with coupon code INSPIRED)
How to Cook Salmon in the Oven
How Long to Bake Salmon in the Oven?
I’ve found the best way to cook salmon in the oven is to cook it at high temperatures for a short time. For perfect oven baked salmon, bake it at 425 degrees fahrenheit for 6-8 minutes for each 1/2 inch of thickness. You want the internal temperature to be somewhere between 125F – 140F and no higher than 140F. 125F for medium and 140F for fully cooked salmon.
A sprinkle of coconut sugar (or brown sugar or use THIS Keto brown sugar replacement) slightly caramelizes the top of the fish and makes it even more mouthwateringly flaky and tender. Then just a dash of garlic powder, sea salt and pepper all over the top is all that’s needed!
