Anti Aging Serum That Works! www.primallyinspired.com

Hi everyone!  Welcome to Beautiful Skin Fridays, with me, Jenni Raincloud!  Since I’ve started my blog I’ve realized that everyone is essentially similar-we all want to be the best version of ourselves that we can be.  Anti wrinkle products are a multi-million dollar industry because women just want to be pretty.  I get it-it’s as prominent to us as young girls as prince charming is.  As we get older, we are conditioned to just accept that beauty fades, but the thing I can’t get out of my head is what if I ate cleaner?  What if I worked on my heart, mind and soul and were happy and peaceful inside??  And of course, what if I found a magic potion that would feed my skin the moisture it needed while firming and evening my skin?  Well, that was my aim for this week.  I have created a product that will do all these thing for our skin.  It’s a serum, so it’s easy to make and can be used as often as you want without side effects.  You ready to get started??

Ingredients:

Rosehip oil– Rosehip Oil penetrates deeply into the lower layers of the skin.  It regenerates cells and increases collagen production. It is rich in vitamin C, Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids and retinoic acid, which studies have shown it brightens and tightens skin!   It also helps restore skin’s elasticity, fade age spots, reduce broken capillaries, and balance oil glands.   It is very beneficial to dry, irritated and mature skin.

Sweet almond oil- Sweet almond oil is full of vitamins D, E, B1, B2 and B6, calcium, potassium, and magnesium. Vitamin E helps fight wrinkles and has a firming effect on the skin.  Almond Oil is light and absorbs easily.  Using sweet almond oil daily can greatly reduce dark circles under the eyes as well as scars and dark spots.  It helps to renew skin cells and rev up circulation.  It is wonderful at nourishing dehydrated skin. I believe it is one of the top (if not #1) carrier oils for reversing the signs of age.  In fact, it is said to be the closest to the oil found in a babies skin-how cool is that? I recommend THIS almond oil.

Cypress Essential Oil– Cypress Oil is a powerful firming oil.  It improves circulation, strengthens blood capillaries, is antibacterial, anti-infectious, and anti-microbial.  Cypress oil is amazing for varicose veins and broken capillaries.

Frankincense Essential Oil- Frankincense has skin regenerating properties.  It is an astringent, which means it tightens and balances pH.  It helps to even skin tone as well as diminishing the appearance of scars and spots.  Frankincense is anti tumor, antiseptic and antibacterial.

Geranium Essential Oil-Geranium is my favorite essential oil for the skin.  When in doubt-add Geranium.  Geranium is great for regenerating skin and revving up circulation.  It is extremely healing.  It also promotes even distribution of melanin-which helps even out the overall tone of the skin.

Cypress Firming and Anti-Aging Serum Recipe

2 TBSP. Rosehip Seed Oil (find it HERE)

2 TBSP. Sweet Almond Oil (find it HERE)

10 drops of Cypress essential oil (find it HERE)

10 drops of Geranium essential oil (find it HERE)

7 drops of Frankincense Essential Oil (find it HERE)

Mix all ingredients in a 2 ounce glass bottle (find them HERE).  You can use this serum morning and night.  I prefer to only use mine at night.  Like all serums, less is more.  It only takes a small amount to cover your entire face and neck.  If you use too much, you will feel quite greasy!

So there you have it!  A short and sweet recipe that will moisturize, firm the skin and even tone.  It’s a well rounded anti aging serum that I’m sure you are going to love!!

See you next Friday!

I not used to using serums. When do you use it? Is it a face wash or moisturizer? Thanks!

I can’t wait to try this, this sounds wonderful. As you said a little bit will go a long way. All of the essential oils you mentioned are wonderful for your skin. Thank you for this recipe!

Hi Shelley, I copied this for you from some site…thanks for the question, because it made me wonder. I want to try this!
How do you apply it? Use about a pea-sized amount of serum for the face and neck, applying the product about two minutes after your cleanser (not on wet skin). “Hydrated cells allow the active ingredient to penetrate better than dried cells,” Dr. Samuels says. Then, wait another three to five minutes before applying your moisturizer. “Moisturizers help restore the keratin protein back to the skin, so they generally have a higher pH,” he said. “If you put on your serum then immediately put on your moisturizer, it can somewhat decrease the effectiveness of your serum.”

Also, it’s important to use face serums primarily at night, because UV rays and oxygen can cause them to oxidize — another reason to make sure you always keep a tight lid on your products.

So does this recipe include the rosehip oil you mention? It’s not listed in the ingredients?
    Thanks,
    Robin

    • Primally Inspired

Hi Robin, Yes it’s 2 tablespoons of the rosehip oil. It’s listed in there, but that big annoying ad is right in the middle of it and looks like it’s not included. Sorry about that! Hope you love this serum as much as me 🙂

Hi I was researching your different eye serums and see two different ones. Are they both just as good or is one better than the other?

  4. Avatar

Hi..Can’t wait to try this! What is the shelf life of this serum?

  5. Avatar

I like the idea of adding cypress essential oil. That’s seem great for firming especially for late 30’s skin. Definitely giving a try!
    Have a beautiful weekend!

  6. Avatar

I am curious if you have ever tried using vetiver in your blends for anti aging since it has cell regenerating properties?

  7. Avatar

Do i need a moisturizer after using the serum or is this moisturizing enough?

  8. Avatar

Oh and how long is the shelf life?

  9. Avatar

I was also wondering how long the shelf life is. If I would add vitamin e for a preservative, how much would I put in?

  10. Avatar

Ladies…the shelf life of this is as long as the shortest dated oil..probably the sweet almond oil…which will be about a year…Terasa…vitamin e is NOT a preservative…it’s an anti-oxidant and cannot be relied upon to ‘preserve’ products…

Thanks for the information Pete. I ordered an expensive Argon oil last night while trying to find an oil that would help with firming. I’m going to the site in a few minutes to cancel and make this one instead.

    Hi Jenni

I was just wondering if one could mix the firming/anti-aging serum with the vitamin c serum and have a really potent face and body serum?

    Regards

Hi! I just want to confirm how to apply this. Usually when someone in my family has applied an essential oil directly to skin it has burned like the dickens. Are you diluting this in any way? Is it just this list of essential oils? I’ve been using doterra which is supposed to be very pure and safe but we still don’t often directly apply. I’m nervous. What do you use?

    • Primally Inspired

Hi Chris! It looks like my ad company put an ad right in the middle of the ingredient list, which is so confusing (I will talk to them about that because that’s so annoying!), but you are mixing (diluting) those essential oils with 2 tablespoons of rosehip seed oil and sweet almond oil (those ingredients are in the list right above the ad). I love this serum and I hope you get a chance to try it!

hi i bought soy-rice peptide, haloxyl, tripeptide, lupine protein and jojoba oil and mixed them all together in a little jar along with water & glycerin. is this a safe mixture to put on my face ???

  14. Avatar

What to you recommend for the morning? You said you prefer to use it at night.

  15. Avatar

Could you add some emulsifying wax and whip this into a cream?

  16. Avatar

Hi, Curious if carrot seed oil would be good to add to this? Thanks!

  17. Avatar

Could this be an all over face and eyes serum? Of course, I would add carrot seed oil also.

  18. Avatar

I made it and tried on my face. It doesn’t spread very easy. Can I mix it with vegetable glycerin or my moisturizer, and how much should I mix in?

  19. Avatar

Hi again! LOVE this serum! I’m using a coconut oil and baking soda wash before but I kind of feel like the coconut oil is leaving a barrier and I don’t know if the serum is getting down in my pores good enough? thoughts? thanks!

    • Primally Inspired

Hi Emily! Coconut oil (and other oils) are known to form a barrier to protect your skin from the elements, but using oils together actually help aid and transport the oils deep into the pores. So you are good!!

Hi! I’m new to EOs and I was wondering if you have to use almond oil or if a substitute carrier like grapeseed or apricot would work. We have a nut allergy in the home and I don’t want to use almond if possible!

  21. Avatar

Hallo, I’ve been using this for about a week my skin is soft but I don’t see any other difference in my face, can you tell me how ling does it take to work?

    Thank You.

  22. Avatar

Hi! 🙂 Inam about to make this and I don’t have geranium (or carrot seed). Is there something else you would recommend instead? I’ve been using a blend of lemon, lavender & frank and really like that. Maybe I could substitute lavender?? Or should I just wait and order geranium…

  23. Avatar

Can this serum be used in the eye area? And what moisturizer do you follow it with? Thanks!!

  24. Avatar

    Hi Kelly,
I really like your blog and have learned a lot of little nice tricks 🙂

I have all the ingredients you mention in this recipe but instead of Almond oil I have jojoba oil. Will this work instead of sweet almond oil?

Thanks again for the great info you provide.

    Celia

    • Primally Inspired

Hi Celia! Thank you so much for your kind words – that means a lot to me and I’m so grateful to have you as a reader 🙂 Yes, jojoba oil (or any good oil like argan, avocado, even olive) is perfect – jojoba is what I use for this recipe instead of the sweet almond oil, too 😉

  25. Avatar

I love all of the recipes you have for skin care. I am definitely going to try some of them. I am no longer going to buy any skincare lines. I have spent a MINT on skincare because it is so important to me. Thanks!!

Hi! Great recipe – I can’t wait to try it. I was wondering if this recipe is safe for acne skin? I have very sensitive oily acne skin and just want to be super cautious before I try anything new on my skin. Thanks!!!

    • Primally Inspired

Hi Henna! It is safe for acne prone skin, however it’s always a good idea when introducing any new product on your face to give it 2-3 weeks for your skin to get used to it to determine if it’s something that you want to continue. It’s normal to have an initial breakout period of a few days while your skin gets used to any new product. But I will say that I have a few acne prone friends who use this serum and love it!

  27. Avatar

Will definitely try this out! Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe! Just one question: Do I have to use a moisturizer after applying this?

  28. Avatar

Hi!! I would like to add that Rosehip oil may not be the best choice for people with acne prone skin. Better options for acne prone skin would be a mix of grape seed oil and jojoba oil. Also, for the Frrankincense, the best one to use for skin is definately Frankincense Frereana.

  29. Avatar

Hi, Monsia makes the best in my opinion.

I have been using this serum since December and I am in love with it. I have dry flakey skin with red blotch’s. This has been heaven sent. Many of my blotch’s have faded and my skin looks great!

I’m interested in your coffee face scrub, the vitamin c serum you make every few days and the clay made with the mother apple cider vinegar. I want to use these along with this serum. What are your recommendations on how frequently you would use these? I don’t want to overload my skin or do too much to it in one day. Is there a schedule you would stick to in using these products?
Thanks for your posts they are fabulous ?

    • Kelly from Primally Inspired

Oh that’s great to hear, Analisha!

I have since stopped using the Vitamin C serum because it was too messy, sticky and gritty. However, I loved the results I got from it, so I started using it just as a mask and I leave it on for about 15-20 minutes and then rinse it off – same results and no mess/stickiness to deal with! I’ve been rotating masks between the Vitamin C and clay/acv by doing one a week then the other one the next week, etc.

I have no strict schedule, but I do the coffee /scrub mask 2-3 times a week, and then one of the masks once a week, usually on the weekend because I have a little more time to pamper myself 🙂 I don’t do a scrub and mask on the same day because all of the scrubs and masks are exfoliating to some degree and I don’t want to over exfoliate or irritate my skin. If there’s a particular day that I want my skin to look it’s best, I make sure to use the coffee scrub – it’s like magic for my skin!

Anyway, that’s the regimen I use and it works really well for me. I know everyone’s skin is a little different, so I think you’ll just have to play around and see what works best for you. But hopefully that will give you a good place to start. I hope it helps! You are going to love that coffee scrub, especially!!! I can’t wait for you to try it 🙂

  31. Avatar

Appreciate the recommendation. Will try it out.

    Hi There,
I read your recipe and read all the comments above. It looks amazing and promising . I am wondering can I use this same recipe for my entire body or do you have another one for body.

    Thanks in Advance

I am about to try this serum with the jojoba and the carrot seed oil. I was wondering if Rosehip oil stains anything like your pillowcases? It is pretty orange.

Thanks so much. Looking forward to testing this.

    Hi,
I love this serum! I had a super oily skin, but that was before I started doing OCM. I have an almost similar recipe to this, but mine doesn’t have the Frankincense Essential oil. A few years back, I didn’t care about Aging or getting old but right now, looking at my laugh lines, I know I have to do something to at least delay it. Thanks for sharing!

  35. Avatar

I’m looking forward to trying this! I have the almond oil but do not have rosehip oil. Is there another oil that I can use in place of rosehip?

  36. Avatar

Tea tree oil, lavender, Lemon, sample wood, rose seed oil.

    Great combo for anti aging

  37. Avatar

I have been using the Cypress Anti-ageing Serum for a couple of years and I love it. I’m 78 yrs old but am always told I look younger, which is always nice. I simply put 1-2 drops on my middle finger, mix with my index, middle, and ring finger, dab a spot where I need it then mix it over my face and neck gently, using only those 3 fingers of each hand. When I got my facial, she complimented me on the moisture of my face. I also add a few drops to my body lotion and it seems to help the dryness of my skin. Thanks so much for your recipe.

Hi all, I have been making this for a while now and absolutely love it. Except I add it to melted cocnut oil and a little beeswax to firm it up into a hard/soft cream. I apply after every shower and I will use it all over. I just love the smell of this blend and knowing how good it is for my skin. Thanks for this recipe, your great for sharing it!
