Stitch Fix Review – Winter Recap
Hey there! Long time, no girly clothes chat, right? I’ve been super busy with the holidays and didn’t have time to take pics or write a blog post of my December Fix, so this Stitch Fix review kind of combines 2 fixes into 1 – December and Janurary.
Usually when I get around to writing these Stitch Fix reviews, I already know exactly what I’m keeping and what I’m sending back. But I totally need your help this time. I don’t know what to keep and what to send back – I’m so torn!
I actually thought I had decided which items I wanted to keep and which to send back. But then I re-tried them all on again. This time I added my accessories that I would probably wear with the outfits. Some of those accessories really brought the outfits to life! And what I thought I wanted to send back, now looks really good with the added accessories. Ugh, girl problems! I hope you’ll stick around and tell me what you think.
I also want to tell you that I’m not going to be getting a Fix for a couple of months so if you don’t see a review from me, that’s why. Nothing bad happened – I still adore this service and I think my stylist especially nailed these last 2 Fixes. But if you’ve read my other Stitch Fix reviews, you know that I totally simplified and got rid of over 95% of my clothes at the beginning of the summer. Going forward, I am only buying pieces that are a 10 out of 10 (perfect!) for me. That means I have far less clothes, but the few pieces I do have make me feel 100% fabulous. Currently, I’m very happy with my winter wardrobe (all 10’s – woo!!!) and I don’t need anything else until spring.
And if you’re wondering what Stitch Fix is….
If you aren’t familiar with Stitch Fix yet, let me give you a super quick rundown. You get matched with your own personal stylist who handpicks a “Fix” for you of 5 clothing items (and accessories if you wish) reflecting your tastes, budget and lifestyle. An adorable box with your Fix shows up at your doorstep. You keep only what you want and send the rest back in a postage paid envelope. And yes, it’s very affordable – I wouldn’t be able to do it if it wasn’t. You can get a Fix as often or as little as you want. No commitments!

Here’s my Stitch Fix pieces this month!
You’ll notice my January Fix is loaded with polka dots! I LOVE polka dots so I was especially excited to see all the different polka dot options for me. I only want to keep 1 polka dot shirt out of the 3, though. The very best one. The problem is, I really love them all! This is where I need your help. Which one do you think I should keep?
Pixley Bixby Dot Print 3/4 Tab Sleeve Blouse
I saw this shirt on Pinterest and fell in love with it. I pinned it and and lo and behold, my stylist checked my Pinterest board and sent it to me (you can follow my fashion Pinterest board HERE). I was so excited! When I first tried it on, it was a 9, not a 10 for me, though. I loved everything about it, except the cuffs. They felt too big, loose and just a little awkward on me.
But then I tried it on for a 2nd time, loaded with the accessories I would wear and paired it with the white denim from my August Fix as suggested by my stylist. I realized that I really do love this shirt and this outfit is totally me and my style. I think I might regret sending it back. What should I do?

Pomelo Missy Polka Dot Tab-Sleeve Blouse
Polka dot shirt #2! So cute, right?! I love this mint color. Mint + Polka dots = Swoon 🙂
When I first tried this shirt on, I thought I had made up my mind that this was the polka dot shirt that was going back. I thought that I liked the other 2 polka dot shirts just a tad bit better.
Then I re-tried it on, but this time, I styled it as my stylist suggested – with my white denim from my August Fix and with bright pink accessories. And wow, what a difference! Those 2 things totally changed the whole look of the shirt and I really, really love this. Again, this outfit totally screams me and my style. And now, with the pink accessories and white denim, it’s a total 10 for me. So what do I do?!
VERDICT: Undecided – help me decide!
Market and Spruce Tracy Dot Print Cross Back Knit Top
As if I wasn’t undecided enough, here’s polka dot shirt #3 in navy blue! Again, I think this is so adorable. I especially love the cross back detail and the fun, slightly puffy sleeves. Because it’s more of a casual shirt, it’s the most comfortable out of all the polka dot shirts. I feel like it’s also the most versatile – I could easily dress it up or down. Plus I could have a lot of fun accessorizing it with any of my favorite colors – yellow, mint, pink, coral, and red.
The back of my hair is a hot mess (curly hair probs), but I wanted to show you the cute cross back detail that I really like:
For all the reasons stated above, I thought I had picked this polka dot shirt as the winner. But now, with all the other shirts being so cute with the added accessories, I love them all and am totally undecided. If you were me, which one would you keep?

Olive & Oak Tiffany Textured Crew Neck Sweater
I was glad to see such a nice staple piece in my Fix. This sweater fits perfectly, is a great quality and a piece that I need for Winter. My stylist told me to pair it with my polka dot swing skirt from my October Fix for a wintery look. She also said it would look adorable with my light blue chinos from my November Fix. I LOVE that she remembers what I bought from my previous Fix’s and sends coordinating items. Isn’t that awesome?
Since I need a versatile piece like this for winter, I think keeping the sweater is a no brainer.
VERDICT: Keeping
Collective Concepts Janice Graphic Print Blouse
This top is one of the reasons I love Stitch Fix. I never would have given this the time of day if I saw it on a rack. But my stylist said it would be perfect for me. She called the pattern “organized chaos, but something about it just works.” I couldn’t stop laughing at that because it sounded like she was describing my life 🙂
The first time I tried this top on, I knew it was a keeper. I love how unique it is – I have nothing in my closet like it. Coming from a gal who only wore solid colors before Stitch Fix, I am loving all the fun patterns in my closet now thanks to my stylist.
VERDICT: Keeping
I didn’t have time to take pictures of my whole December Fix before the deadline to send the items back. I wish I would have just snapped a pic of all the clothes with my iPhone so you could see all the pieces, but I didn’t think about it at the time. The whole December Fix was really cute and I ended up keeping 2 of the 5 items – a mint cardi and a beautiful blue lace overlay top. I adore them both. Here they are:
TCEC Donelle V-Neck Buttom Up Cardigan
I’ve practically lived in this cardigan since the day I got it. It’s ridiculously comfy and it’s in my all-time favorite color to wear. I even wore it for my family Christmas pic. My stylist knows I’m such a sucker for this color and she hit the nail on the head with this cozy cardi.
In this pic, it’s paired with the Janice Graphic Print Blouse from the January Fix, as suggested by my stylist. I think that’s such a flattering combination and one I wouldn’t have thought of myself. I am also wearing my favorite dark wash skinny jeans from my November Fix.
Brixon Ivy Roselin Lace Overlay Blouse
Isn’t this top so pretty? I fell in love with everything about it as soon as I saw it. I especially love the bright blue paired with mint. It’s really cute with a pencil skirt and also my white denim from my August Fix.
So there you have it! Between the last few Fix’s, I think I got some amazing pieces for the Winter season. Now I just need your help deciding which polka dot top to keep. Or do you think I should I say screw it and get them all?! They are all different enough, right? 😉 I don’t think I need 3 polka dot tops and really would like to just pick one, though.
I always enjoy doing these girly chats since I still don’t have many girl friends here. I’d love it if you would leave me your opinion in the comments. Thank you!!! <3
**UPDATE — I ended up keeping the 3rd polka dot shirt based on your comments here and also from the poll on my Facebook page – it was hands down the clear winner. Thank you so much for all your comments and opinions – I loved reading each of them and they really helped me make the decision much easier 🙂
Here’s all my past Fix’s:
I’m a huge fan of Stitch Fix so far and have gotten some really great pieces over the past few months. You can check out all my Fix’s by clicking on the pics below!
I like the 3rd one the best IF you have to pick just one 😉
haha thanks, Mona!
It’s between the 1st and 3rd one – you look so happy in both! I would most likely pick the 3rd one for myself!
Thanks, Megan!! 🙂
They are all cute but I like the third one best.
Thanks, Carmen! 🙂
They are all adorable..but if it were me I would narrow it down to one. Looking at the pics all lined up, I like the first one the best. Again, they are all great! It’s amazing what a great job your stylist does with the colors. I gravitate towards the mint greens and aquas the way you do, although I still wear too much black and grey!
I agree, she does such a good job with the colors! And I can’t get enough of those mint greens and aquas! I used to live in black and grey, too. I can’t believe I actually got rid of every last stitch of black and grey that I owned (that was HARD!). But my closet is so fun to look at now with all that color 🙂
The first one is the best look on you! Stylish abd more classic than the other two. You’ll be able to use it for years.
Thanks for your feedback, Ellen! I love that one!
Personally, I would buy all 5 and get the discount. You look fabulous in everything! But, if you are only going to get one, I think I would go with the first one.
Thanks, Kathy!! That same thought has crossed my mind a few times, too!
Third shirt! Navy polka dot, too cute! 🙂
Thanks, Janelle! I polled my Facebook audience last night and that one was hands down, the winner, too!
Mint polka dot is my least favorite, but all three are really amazing! So cool that you got so many awesome polka dots sent to you! Having to choose the very best polka dot shirt is kind of a rad problem to have. 😉
haha, right?! If only that was my only problem! 🙂 Thanks for the feedback, too!
Ohmigosh!! What a hard choice! My absolute favorite, though, if I HAD to pick one, would be #3. I LOVE the neckline, it seems more carefree. I also love the length of the sleeves. It looks so great on you, plus the back is adorable. Whatever you choose though, is a winner! <3
Thanks, Danielle!! <3
I like the first one on you best!! 🙂 They are all cute though, but #1 seems to scream #1 (Dressing Your Truth) to me!
Thanks, Christie!! I was excited to see your name pop up here 🙂 Has my mom (or Abbie) gotten you into DYT yet? I feel like I turned them into little Dressing Your Truth monsters haha – now they are telling everyone about it! heehee 🙂
I think you look the best in the navy polka dot. If it was me, that’s the one I would choose.
Thank you, Vicki!!
Looks great! I definitely like the 1st or 3rd one best. The first just pops out at me. Do you know the name of your stylist? I got my first fix but it didn’t jive and I love all the things you get! That polka dot skirt is awesome and I love all the colors!
Thanks, Kristen! My stylist is named Kieu-Kelly and I’m almost positive she’s out of the San Francisco office. She’s so great!
I also vote for shirt #3!!
Woo! It seems like that one is getting the most votes so far! Thank you, Laura!
my favorite is the mint polka dot shirt!! it is so bright and would lighten up the crappy weather here in PA.
haha! You are right about that Joanna!!
I love #2 on you!
Thanks, Allison! I love that one and was surprised not many others picked that one!
I love #3 Navy!!! 🙂
Thank you, Kari!! <3 It sounds like mostly everyone likes that one, too! I love having all these opinions, especially from a fellow DYT T1 friend!!
You have a great stylist. The clothes really look great on you. At first picture I didn’t like the 1st and 2nd shirts. Loved the 3rd. With all 3 pictures side by side I reconsidered. #3 with the crossback is still my favorite with #1 coming in a close second. Still not crazy about #2, the mint polka dot. Hope this helps you with your decision. The way we perceive clothes make us look and how we feel in those clothes really is a big thing.
Thanks for your great feedback, Marissa! I think at this point, #3 is going to be the winner – it’s fun getting so much feedback!
Guess I’m in the minority, but I’d go with #2. Maybe it’s just the lighting in the photo, but I think this one is the most flattering, but it is also the most casual, so only keep it if you want a consistently casual look. Either of the other two could be dressed up or down easily.
Part of me thinks that if #1’s sleeves bothered you from the start then it might be hard to get past that into the future. The navy one is smart and interesting with the cross back, which is a plus. All three fit you to a T in the shoulders, but if it were me, I think all three also come up a little short on you in the length, cutting off right at the hip and I’d want something about an inch longer. I think #2 seems to hang a little longer with a more rounded/flattering hemline, and perhaps that’s why I’m drawn to it. Good luck deciding, and be sure to let us know what you do!
Strange, but I can’t do this kind of analysis when *I’m* trying on clothes, but it comes easily when looking at your photos 🙂 Happy New Year!
I love hearing your opinion, Janet, thank you! Do you have a design/art background? You have a great eye for design lines and I always love getting your analysis for that reason. And I am the same as you – I can usually do the same for others, but rarely for myself. Although I think seeing myself in an actual photo makes it a bit easier.
I really like #2, too (right after posting this blogpost it was the front runner for me) and was surprised not many others felt the same way. And after you mentioned the rounded hemline – I totally see that being more flattering now. I will have to remember that when picking out tops in the future. Thank you!
I think at this point, I’m going to keep #3, although I still have a few hours to change my mind 😉 Happy New Year to you, too!!
Just found your blog through Pinterest! I had to pin that blue lace top to my style board… it is absolutely adorable!! And I have gotten all three of those polka dot tops in past fixes!! How funny!!
That is so funny, Molly!! We must have the same taste 🙂 I just checked out your latest Fix – THAT SCARF!!! I need that!!! 😀 And that beautiful red sweater – so bright and happy! Love! I didn’t want to get a Fix until April, but those 2 items are totally making me reconsider! I love that embellished top on you – such a gorgeous color on you!
Yes!! I’m excited to check out all your future Stitch Fix outfits for more inspiration!! I agree… you should definitely reconsider and get a box before April! 😉
I love #3!!! And I really love that pic of you in the white sweater. Soooo cute!
Thanks, Annie!! 🙂
You seem to have hit SF stylist gold! I have had the same stylist the last two Fixes and I have requested her a third. I think I finally found one that “gets” me. Yours most definitely “gets” you!
It makes all the difference!!
If you don’t mind me asking, who is your stylist? I’ve had a bit of trouble finding one that seems to fit well and have even considered cancelling the service because of that.
Hi Amanda! Her name is Kieu-Kelly and she’s out of the San Francisco office. She is wonderful! Having a good stylist that listens and gets you makes such a big difference!
Definitely No. 3. No. 1 is good too, but I really don’t like that mint one on you. I think it is gathering at the shoulders I do not like…to bulky for your cute little frame.
Thanks, Mom! See, I’m glad I asked for opinions because right after posting this post I was going to choose #2. I never noticed the bulkiness at the shoulders, but I see that now. I ended up picking #3. It was the clear winner between these comments and my Facebook page 🙂
I like #1 and #3. I asked for #1 in my last fix and my stylist said it wasn’t available. I’ll take it if you decide to send it back! I’d take #3 off your hands too, lol!!! You look great in all 3 though. Tough choice!
I pinned #1 a few months ago and my stylist kept saying it wasn’t available. She was just as excited as I was when she saw it was available. I hope you get it – it’s so cute!! I ended up choosing #3 🙂
I just love your reviews. You were one of the primary bloggers to inspire me to try Stitch Fix.
Awww, thanks Hope!! 🙂 I have so much fun doing them!
I loved all of the print tops. What did you tell your stylist? Those are what I’m looking for.
Nancy
Thanks, Nancy! I told her that I like bright spring colors and styles that are fun, fresh, cute and preppy. I told her to never send me black or grey items. I have a pinterest board that reflects all my styles and my love for bright spring colors that gives her a good idea of what I like to wear – I know she checks it regularly. I think having a good Pinterest board reflecting your styles or things you love is so important for getting a good Fix! Here is mine if you would like to see: http://www.pinterest.com/kellywinters126/dressing-your-truth-type-1-beauty/
Hope that helps!
LOVE the off white crew neck sweater! You look gorgeous in everything! 🙂
Amy! Hi!! Thank you 😀
