Oh this makes me sad that you feel like that! That’s exactly why this program was created – every woman deserves to feel beautiful no matter what age. In our Dressing Your Truth group, I would say the majority of the women are 55 and older 🙂 Although there’s some much younger and much older, too – there’s even an 84 year old in there who is awesome and so inspiring and says she’s never felt or looked better!!!

I’m about to open my own acupuncture practice, and I don’t have anything to wear! For real, I spent the last seven years having babies while going to grad school, living in jeans, yoga pants, and nursing bras, hoping that I didn’t have spit up down my back when I rushed out the door for class. I just cleaned out my closet and got rid of everything that no longer fit or just wasn’t flattering, and that didn’t leave me with much. I used to love shopping and dressing, but that was when I had a decent figure. Now it just makes me cry, and I don’t even know what would look good on me and express who I am anymore.

This would be great. I dress in all black also. I branch out sometimes but I’ve bought so many duds I just don’t like going shopping plus I’m a large chested inverted triangle. For the last few years I have been on this journey of finding out who I really am and letting my creativity and beauty shine through in how I dress. For so long I tries to fit into the mold our culture tells us we need fit into as women. This would be a great tool.

I checked this out when you blogged about it awhile back, very cool! I’m desperate for help, I hate shopping because I don’t know my style and don’t know how to pick out clothes. It’s a miserable experience when I try, so I just don’t do it! I’m still in college clothes (6 years and 2 babies later) and lots of hand me downs, none of which reflect who I am! Sometimes the truth really hurts and my husband is always telling me to cut back and not be so straight forward because people don’t like it. I was always taught to be honest. So when I stand back and look at myself today I realise that I haven’t been true to myself. When it comes to my wardrobe, like so many others I have clothes from years ago that I can’t part with for reasons, some silly. So from today I do definitely need to be true to myself and let go,
Kez, you will love my mom’s dressing your truth story. She is an even a bigger fan of dressing your truth than me, if you can believe that because I’m pretty obsessed lol. She sounds like you, very straight forward, always honest even if the truth hurts. She’s 58 years old and always thought it was a flaw about herself and people (including me, which I feel so bad about now) would tell her that people sometimes feel uncomfortable around her. She’s often heard that she’s “too much for some people.” Dressing Your Truth made her realize that her honesty and her big, passionate energy is one of her greatest gifts and it’s not meant to be stifled! She even found a job that she totally gets to shine in her gifts of being brutally honest and passionate….and she’s changing people’s lives because of it (she’s a speaker in high schools about sex and relationships – she empowers the kids to respect themselves and the kids love her!!!). She’s had a ball with dressing your truth. And even better, she’s come to embrace and understand her true self as not a flaw, but a very important gift that this world needs! And the cool part is that I totally admire that gift in her now when before I didn’t understand it because I wasn’t like that. I’m so glad to hear you will embrace your true gift! Because that’s what it is! Go girl!!

Not necessarily! You wear what supports your nature and what makes you happy! Some people look and feel fabulous in black and it does support their nature (usually these are the type of people who are more serious, like structure, are black and white thinkers). I’m not one of those people, though so I made the choice to ditch the black and I’ve never looked back 🙂

I have been stalking DYT for years–have never bought the course because (a) I feel like I would be missing something when I get the Type 4 series, when I’m a secondary Type 1 (so different! I worry that the modules wouldn’t address my secondary), (b) I’ve never worn make-up–and I’m not gonna’ start now, and (c) I’m not going back to using loads of product in my hair or getting more frequent haircuts, colorings, etc. Is it possible to be too low maintenance for DYT? LOL
Stefani, I’ve been doing DYT for years now and absolutely love it!! A few things I love most about it is that it addresses your secondary and how to pull your look together using your primary and secondary energies. They are very thorough in that (especially in the new Lifestyle content which has been fabulous). I also love that if you don’t want to wear makeup or put product in your hair you don’t have to for this program to work and for you to feel fabulous. It really is an individual thing. I feel better about myself and look better than I have in years. Everyone tells me I look younger and better than I ever have (and I’m almost 50 years old!).

Because of you, I have taken all the courses, and discovered I was type 4. It described me perfectly. I have studied up on my own, and have begun the journey, but haven’t subscribed yet. How nice this is. I am one to wear the blacks and very subdued colors so that I don’t stand out. Feeling like everything that I have or have to choose from looks like a moomoo or is from the guys section. I need to loose about 100 lbs in order to fit in anything that looks like woman’s clothing.

I sure need this. Don’t know who I am anymore, and never had a sense of style. Even back when I was in great physical shape, the ugly face was what I saw when I looked in the mirror. Now, I just see a horribly out-of-shape body and an uglier, older face.

I am that person that dresses in dark clothes all the time. I also try to wear loser clothing because of my slight pudge since having my daughter. I turn down fun social events, because not only do I not know how to pull together a stylish outfit, but also because I cannot figure out my body type. I live in sweatpants and workout clothes, and although you can get away with it in Colorado, I am in desperate need of serious help. There is so much psychology and science behind this. I couldn’t remember where I first learned of this, but now that I see it here I remember that it was from you! Awesome stuff. Just took the mini course last night. Such a unique perspective, kinda like the true colors program. I’ve always been afraid of ‘girly’ anything because I grew up with this sense of having to not be ‘girly’. Anyway, I’ve since read this book called Captivating….game changer. The one thing I think would be an integral part is capturing your inner self in your style. So scary without a guide like this. Pretty cool!
