Steakhouse Steak and Balsamic Veggies
This one pan wonder steak dinner is probably my very favorite out of all my one pan wonder dinners. It’s a sure way to impress whoever you’re trying to impress. I’m not joking when I say it’s better than a steakhouse steak. This is how I cook all my steaks. Not only is it super simple, but it’s wonderfully delicious and flavorful. Letting your steak βrestβ is part of the secret β this allows time for the juices to absorb and creates an amazingly tender and juicy steak. You’ve got to try it out and see for yourself. It may very well become your new favorite meal, too!
One Pan Wonders: Better than a Steakhouse Steak and Balsamic Veggies
Serves: 2-4
2 porterhouse steaks ,1 pound each, about 1 to 1 Β½ inches thick (other cuts good for broiling are: t-bone, ribeye, sirloin, top loin, eye round),
1 onion, cut in half and sliced
6 oz fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 carrot, thinly sliced
1 fresh garlic bulb, skin left on, cloves separated
2-4 tablespoons fat of choice (I use THIS ghee)
Grill seasoning, to taste or sea salt and pepper to taste (I use THIS grill seasoning)
balsamic vinegar for drizzling (I use THIS)
2 tablespoons butter or ghee
Optional ingredients: fresh chives, parsley, horseradish
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat your broiler, with rack 6 inches from the heat. On a rimmed baking pan, toss the onion, mushrooms, carrot, and garlic cloves with oil. Arrange your steak on the sheet and season steak and veggies with grill seasoning or salt and pepper. Drizzle the balsamic vinegar over the veggies and steak.
Broil for 10 – 12 minutes for medium rare steak (no need to flip for medium rare). Take the pan out of the oven and immediately put a pat or two of butter on top of the steak. Cover the whole pan with foil and let rest for 10 minutes.
After the 10 minutes is up, remove the pulp from the roasted garlic cloves and spread over the steak and veggies. Top with fresh chives or any additional toppings. Enjoy!
*If you like your steaks done more than medium rare, follow these guidelines:
Medium: 7 minutes, flip steaks and veggies, broil for 7 more minutes
Well: 10 minutes, flip steaks and veggies, broil for 10 more minutes
Cover and let rest for at least 5 minutes.

Just made this last night and they were perfect! We like medium rare, too. Veggies were perfect and the carrots were still a little crisp, which we liked. Great flavor, great recipe. Thanks!
Awesome, Gwen! Thanks for the comment!
I made this last night and it was wonderful. I had to use two pans to fit everything on it, but we all loved it. The steaks came out great and the vegetables were delicious. I never had luck with broiling steak before, so I was so excited about how great they came out and how yummy it was. I can’t wait to try some of your other recipes. Thank you!
I love hearing that! Thanks, Vera!

I don’t broil often so I have a question. My broiler has high or low. Which do I use? Thanks!
Hi Nicole! It’s a High Broil.
Made this tonight – it was so so so good!! Thank you!
Woo! Thanks for the comment, Debi!
This is one of the best dishes I’ve ever eaten – SUCH a simple and delicious recipe. I know I’ll be making this all the time! THANK YOU!
So glad to hear this!
I had quite a Lucille Ball moment thanks to our ancient oven… the house filled with smoke, and at the end there was a grease fire in the oven! BUT – the steak was amazing! Easiest method yet, and far more tender and moist than when using the grill. I roasted the garlic, onion and mushrooms with zucchini in a separate pan. So delicious, thank you!
When I first started reading your comment I got scared lol! Glad it all worked out in the end π
I made this tonight. I didn’t have carrots so I used squash that I had fresh picked from my garden today. This was a huge hit with the whole family. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe
Woohoo! Thanks for your comment, Sherrie!
