You can have fun in the rain! This week’s Happy Hour with Kelly is all about gratitude, inspiration and learning to have fun even in the rain.
Fun in the Rain: Happy Hour with Kelly 002
Hey there! I’ve got my favorite ACV Fruit Drink in hand ready to share my gratitude with you this week! Happy Hour with Kelly happens each Friday. It’s all about telling each other what we’re grateful for during the past week because gratitude is so powerful! It can shift your whole perspective on life, even in the worst of circumstances. In fact, writing down my gratitude each day is what helped me out of my rock bottom into a life bursting with joy. So I hope you’ll whip yourself up a drink, join the conversation and leave your gratitude in the comments 🙂
Wow, there were so many things to be grateful for this past week. But I’ve narrowed it down to my top 2!
Gratitude #1: Enjoying the fun in the rain 🙂
I’m a sunshine kinda gal. Love, love, love the sun. I often joke that I’m solar powered because I feel so darn good on sunshine-y days.
This past Monday, it was dreary and raining. I looked out the window as soon as I got up and found myself thinking, “too bad it’s not a nice day.” I often thought that I needed the sun to have a really great, energetic day.
I’m trying to be more aware of the negative beliefs I still hold and I’m proud to say that I caught my negativity right away. So instead, I changed my thinking to, “Who says it’s not a nice day? I can have just as much fun in the rain.” I grabbed my rain boots and rain jacket and asked Bently if he wanted to go play in the creek with me. I got ears perked, super fast tail wags and lots of wiggling all around (that means yes!) and away we went. It was a blast!!! And to think I would have missed out on all that fun just because I was waiting for my circumstances to change. Monday was a beautiful reminder that it’s never too late to change the direction of your day or life. I’m so grateful for that reminder!
So often many of us (I’m guilty, too!) wait around for something or someone to start enjoying life or doing that thing we really want to do. We wait until we lose the weight, get a man (or woman), feel healthy enough, have more money in the bank, get our friends or parents approval, get more schooling, or you fill in the blank. What’s holding you back from fully enjoying life right now or fulfilling a long time dream? Are you waiting around for your circumstances to change? Now is a great time to change that! Not if. Not when. Now. As you are!
Gratitude #2: Our fruit trees made it!!!!
We bought 8 fruit trees last summer (2 apple, 2 pear, 2 peach, 2 plum). To make a long story short, we didn’t think they were going to survive the winter because they looked downright pitiful (it was our fault – long story haha). But spring is here and they did make it! I’m so grateful! The peach trees flowered this past week with pretty, delicate pink flowers all over. They are so beautiful! The honey bees are already buzzing around each flower. Love! Maybe we’ll even get some fruit this year 🙂
I’d love to read about what you’re grateful for this past week. Leave a comment down below and let’s get some gratitude, positivity and inspiration flowing!
Love this Kelly! And love Bentley! I had a similar situation of Sunday…it was so crazy cold and windy and I was kind of dreading taking KO out. But I got all bundled up, and it was so much fun watching him have fun. He loves the wind and loves to run straight into it. So I had fun laughing with him, and it felt great coming into my warm house!
Dogs are the best, aren’t they?! 🙂
We’re having an unusual hot day today so I donned a sundress and took some too-bright photos in the orchard. The apple trees are in full bloom and one plum is so full of little fruit that I had to thin it already. I’m also thankful for good friends who just left after an overnight. Hadn’t seen them or talked much in over 15 years. They really invest in young people’s lives and I was one of their first benefactors back in high school. Now that we’re all in middle age I could take them out for dinner to thank them for all the meals they served me while I was in high school and college.
That is so cool, Janet! Sounds like they are amazing people – it’s so nice that you were able to get the opportunity to connect with them again!
ps. Your property sounds so lovely with all your flower beds and fruit trees. It sounds like I would love it. We are working on creating something similar with our property – nothing makes me happier than being surrounded by flowers, nature and all of God’s handiwork.
